Intelligent reporting turns connected plant data into periodic, comparable reports that are generated and distributed automatically, with no manual intervention. Unlike operational dashboards, which show the live state of the operation, automatic reports summarise a closed period (a shift, a day, a week) and arrive on schedule to the people who need them.
The most common use case is replacing manually compiled shift and production reports. Instead of someone transcribing figures from several screens into Excel, each number comes straight from its source: production counters, machine state records, connected meters or the ERP. Reports calculated the same way every time make periods genuinely comparable, so trends surface earlier and disputes about whose figure is right disappear. - How is intelligent reporting different from a dashboard?
- A dashboard shows the state of the operation in real time and is consulted on demand. An automatic report is generated on its own at a defined frequency (per shift, day, week or month), summarises what mattered in that period and reaches each person without anyone requesting it. They complement each other: one answers "what is happening now?" and the other "what happened, and how do periods compare?".
- What data do I need to generate automatic production reports?
- The starting point is the data the plant already has connected: production counters, machine states, stoppage records, consumption or ERP data. On that base you define what each report must contain and how often it is issued.
