Energy Efficiency

Analysis and optimisation of energy consumption integrated with operational data. We study how, when and where energy is used, cross that consumption with real activity and propose concrete measures to reduce costs and improve the performance of the operation.

Industrial energy efficiency measured with plant data

Cutting a factory's energy costs without knowing where the energy goes is guesswork. A monthly billing total says how much was spent, but not in which process, in which shift or with what justification. Our energy efficiency service starts by fixing that gap: we turn an aggregated figure into continuous measurement that can be matched against what the plant was actually doing at any given moment.

Losses tend to concentrate in a few cross-cutting systems: compressed air, motors and drives, process heat and cooling, and base loads such as lighting or auxiliary equipment that never switches off. Knowing where to look is useful, but the step that turns those categories into decisions is assigning a consumption figure to each one and comparing it with the activity that justifies it.

There are two ways to approach efficiency: one-off interventions, which are useful but erode as the plant changes, and continuous improvement based on data, where consumption is measured permanently and deviations are detected when they appear rather than months later on the bill. Our work follows the second model. To be clear about scope: this is not a formal regulated energy audit, but an analysis and optimisation of consumption integrated with operations.

The natural continuation of the analysis is infrastructure: generation, consumption and activity in one data layer, which is our connected energy management solution. For the full approach, see our guide on industrial energy optimisation and the rest of Captia Energy.

How it connects to the system

The energy layer connects to plant data via Connect and to interpretation and automation via AI.

Frequently asked questions

What does Captia’s energy efficiency service consist of?
We analyse how, when and where your operation uses energy, correlate that consumption with the plant’s real activity and propose concrete measures to reduce costs and improve performance. The approach is data driven: instead of working from a one-off snapshot, we aim for consumption that is measured continuously and integrated with operations.
Do you carry out official energy audits?
No. Our work is not a formal energy audit but an analysis and optimisation of consumption based on installation and operational data. If your company needs a regulated audit, our service is complementary: continuous measurement and consumption traceability make any subsequent process of that kind easier.
What do I need in my plant to get started?
You do not need a monitored installation to begin. The usual starting point is understanding which data already exists, from billing and the main meter to per-line or per-equipment measurements, and deciding from there where it pays to measure more. The better the measurement, the more specific the improvement measures we can propose.
How is this different from a one-off savings consultancy?
A one-off review identifies improvements at a given moment, but a plant’s consumption changes with production, seasons and equipment. Our approach is to sustain the improvement over time: measure continuously, compare consumption with real activity and detect deviations when they appear, not months later on the bill.
