Ignition, by Inductive Automation, and the Captia Connect plus Captia.ai pairing solve a similar problem (capturing plant data and putting it to work) with two opposite models: a platform to build on your own server versus a managed web platform with an edge in the plant. This comparison is written by a competitor, so the rule is simple: every claim about Ignition is verifiable on the Inductive Automation website, and we openly say where Ignition wins. Summary: two different models
Ignition is a SCADA and IIoT software platform installed on the customer's server and licensed per server, with unlimited tags, clients and connections. On that foundation, the customer or their integrator builds the application: screens, scripting, data model, reports. It is a maximum-flexibility approach that presumes engineering capacity, in-house or contracted.

Perspective, Ignition's HTML5 visualisation module, builds screens that run in the browser and on mobile, and it is among the best parts of the platform: anyone who wants to design every last pixel of their application will find a powerful tool there. The trade-off is that the screens must be built: it is development work, both initial and ongoing.
Captia.ai is a web SCADA out of the box: dashboards per asset, line, role or plant, history, alerts and reporting as part of the product, configurable without a development project. Less design freedom than Perspective; far less effort to get the plant on screen. Which side of the scale weighs more depends on whether visualisation is, for you, a product to configure or an application to design.
AI and analytics
This is the clearest product difference. In Ignition, advanced analytics is built: the platform provides the foundation (data, scripting, modules) and the integrator develops on top or connects third-party tools.
